Aldo Ucupacha_edited_edited.jpg

From the Artist:
In the Andean world, Ucupacha belongs to the world below, or the world of the dead, represented by the snake. One way to explore my creativity was to enter the Andean cultural world of my country, and abstractly and symbolically compose a series of symbols where I represent the snake in an abstract and minimalist way painted black in the lower part of the painting -- influencing myself from the symbolic representations of the snake of the Chachapoyas culture. Buried under the earth, I symbolically represent the silhouette of a skull in the upper central part, and I use the color black as a symbol of this underworld, a place where sunlight does not reach. This color has a general dominance of the painting, absorbing a large part of the painting. In the central part I was influenced by Inca architecture, painted with the colors of a sunset painting the silhouette of a trapezoidal door that symbolically is the entrance to the other underground world, the entrance to another state of consciousness where the last ray of light, represented in the upper left part in yellow is absorbed by the shadows of the Ucupacha.
